The tap is designed to productively draw chips up and out of the hole and towards the shank when tapping blind holes, deep holes, and keyway holes. It has a flute that wraps around the tap axis in a spiral or a helical configuration. The Spiral Flute Taps evacuate the chips out of the hole cleanly to make sure that no chips remain in the hole.
